- [Curtis Air Field](https://www.portacool.com/company/community/stories/curtis-air-field/): Two hours northwest of Austin rests the small town of Brady, Texas. Geographically, Brady, which the locals refer to as “The Heart of Texas,” is the closest city to center of the Lone Star State. In August 1941, Curtis Field was opened three miles from Brady. On January 1, 1942, the facility was commandeered by the United States Army Air Forces and was used as a primary pilot training airfield during World War II. The military relinquished control of the airport in February 1945.

- [Central Sabine Fire Department](https://www.portacool.com/company/community/stories/central-sabine-fire-department/): Based in Many, Louisiana – about 75 miles south of Shreveport – the Central Sabine Fire Department (CSFD) is the centrally located fire district within the three Sabine Parish districts. Serving just over 11,000 residents, this district is not your typical paid firefighter team. CSFD is an all-volunteer department providing public education, fire suppression, rescue, hazmat, EMS and dive services to its community.
- [Shreveport Fire Department – Scene Rehab](https://www.portacool.com/company/community/stories/shreveport-fire-department-scene-rehab/): Shreveport, Louisiana, is the third most populous city in the state located in the northwest tri-corner area known as the Ark-La-Tex region where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. Home to more than 191,000 residents, the city boasts a stand-out fire department with more than 580 employees, 22 fire houses and an active fire academy that typically trains 30 recruits every six months. For more than 10 years, the Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) has utilized a mobile Scene Rehab Unit to help rehab firefighters after significant fires or in extreme heat situations.

- [CrossFit Deep Ellum](https://www.portacool.com/company/community/stories/crossfit-deep-ellum/): Eric Rosenstock has had his CrossFit gym near downtown Dallas for more than a decade now. CrossFit Deep Ellum serves many of Dallas’ first responders and civil servants along with many others looking to stay in rugged shape. The 10,000-square-foot facility centers around a large 6,000-square-foot open area that houses the majority of the training equipment and serves as the main workout space for class participants. For years, the converted warehouse space (with 15-foot ceilings) had an overhead exhaust fan built into a skylight in the ceiling. That massive fan helped vent some of the Texas heat and proved helpful up until 2017 when leaks and roof issues resulted in removing the fan/skylight combo.
- [Blommel Motorsports](https://www.portacool.com/company/community/stories/blommel-motorsports/): Matt Blommel is known for his motorsport expertise. Since 2005, he developed a hobby into a full-fledged business that has flourished – Blommel Motorsports. He is renowned by motorcycle enthusiasts for his suspension work on the most popular motorcycles, including Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki. You name the bike and he’s most likely worked on it. He stays busy working with as many as 60 customers a week, with more than 75% of the work shipped to his shop from across the United States. Motorcycle manufacturers, who have come to trust Matt as a valuable resource, often hire him to consult on their new products. Meanwhile, his base business continues to grow as he has expanded to dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs and other recreational vehicles.
